going out on a limb here, but my experience w/ J boats are they are great for racing, but i'd be hard pressed to think of them being a suitable long distance offshore vessel. also, not known for their creature comforts (okay, i'm basing this on my J/24 and some 29s and 34s, i've sailed on...so maybe the 36 is more s/o or spouse friendly.
