warsash one design, please help.

could anyone please help me? i have recently bought a warsash one design, (long keel, fiberglass hull) similar to a hurley 27. i have searched the internet and i am unable to find any information about it, apart from the fact one was in the last jester challenge.(very little info and just one not very clear photo). i am planning to sail from england to australia in a couple of years and i would like to find out as much information as possible about the boat. to make things safer and just out of pure interest. any info u could give me would be very much appreaciated. thanks. huggy.

I tried a google search and didnt come up with much. But I did see that the July 2004 back-isue of Yachting Monthly has something about it.

Maybe you can contact them and ask about the issue to see if its worth ordering...

I sailed WOD 6 (Gigi) from 1964 to 1971 out of the RNSA Portland.
Each year we went to Cowes week in the summer, then across to France and back for our summer holiday, but on several occasions we crossed the Channel more than once in the summer.
I thought she was a superb boat, her only weakness was the large non-self draining cockpit coming back cross-channel in heavy weather. For sailing along the South Coast she was perfect. We did not have an inboard engine, which enhanced her sailing qualities. We raced with the local sailing clubs on handicap, because we were the only WOD in the area, so I never managed to have a straight race against another of the same class.
I hope you have as much enjoyment from your boat as we had in Gigi.

Hi Huggy !!
Im in the same boat LOL !! I cant believe there is no information out there ? I cant even find who the designer and builder were etc. I need to do extensive rebuild and would at least6 like some original ideas !!
So if you find anything Id love to hear from you. I guess youre down south Im up in the North !!

Do you stil have her? Did you find much info. I have an amount of info, & there are some websites for a close relative the Folkdancer & Hamble OD.

I have owned WOD sail no. 3 for ca 15 years (laid up for most of that time). I too am faced with extensive work....

Sorry I only just read your reply - only 7 months late !!!
Im easily found if you wish to chat. That is online with America !!
I have WOD 1 and am now looking at a big hollow hull and deck !!
Stripped out lots of old rotten wood but seem to have a good sound hull.
Doing a lot of mods so might be good to chat !
Hope you get this sooner than I got yours !!
