I always liked these
They may be a little odd, but they are so comfortable!

For $50K, get yourself an Alberg 30 for about $20K and let the yard do the updates. You should have about $5K left over for the launch party (to which we fully expect invitations).

blt2ski will become famous soon enough
Personally, find a style of boat that you like, ie Racer/cruiser, crusiser/racer, cruiser, multihull, then figure out if a coastal verison will work vs a bluewater boat..........

I started looking in the R/C or C/R versions, I knew I wanted a fin keel vs full keel, I did not need the fastest boat I was looking for, but did not want a slug either. Looked at islanders, Ericsons, newports, catilinas. and came across an 85 Jeannea Arcadia that the OE was selling. Overall in good shape, but did need some repairs. She fit what my wife wanted, ie the teak covered open interior, she is reasonably fast, a PHRF of 165 vs a fast of 135 to a slow of 220 for boats of the mid 80's era that are in the size and cost bracket I was looking at. I was able to sail her off the bat, and do the upgrade repairs in the mean time.

Lots of options, look and look and look! Best advice i can give you.

Marty
