I''ve been considering a number of Formosa''s of various sizes (41,47,51). Does anyone have any useful information on these boats? Also, if anyone is familiar with other vessels in that size range of similar design, I''d appreciate it!

I have looked at a number of Formosa 41 Ketches in Souther Calif. I love the way they look. Less than half of the boats i have looked at were in very good shape. I think that the boats were well bullt, but the seem to have been swailed and lived abard hard.

I have seen a few good ones thogh. Another similar looking boat is the CT 41. Also a William Garden knock off, and very well built. I have seen a couple of Hudson Seawolfs that looked great, but the only one I could find in my area was being lived aboard by such a messy family that I could not see f=the boat through the clutter.

I am currently looking for a live aboard and have kept these boats on my list of "possibles" since I first saw one.

If you have noticed my recent comment to the person asking about the CT41, you will see that I recommended getting on the ct-list on this site''s email lists. Unfortunately, there does not apear to be a list for Formosas, Hudsons, and a few others of like nature. The end result is that some of these owners have joined the ct-list. They have been well received on the list and you may want to join also and pose some questions there or just get the general scuttlebutt of the ups and downs of these kinds of boats. Cynthia

I owned a 1974 Formosa 37 about 10 years ago. It was a very well built boat. I would buy another, except they seem rare in Florida.
