Tartan 30 needs motor

I am looking at a Tartan 30 sloop 1976. It needs a new or rebuilt engine otherwise the boat is in great condition. Any suggestions on what the boat is worth?

I had a friend with a Tartan 30, also with no engine. He offered me the boat fo $1. I went to look and it was not in very good shape. Hull was fine, but the interior needed a ton of work and the electrical was a mess. I passed.

I did get a quote from Solomon Technologies on repowering the boat with an electric engine, for about $10000. Since it needed new tanks anyway it might have been worth it had I wanted the boat. check out their site for info on the "electric wheel."

Larry, the T30 is a capable boat. Direct your questions to owners of T30s on the Tartan list provided by sailnet. You''ll get loads of information quickly. Just join the list.

Tartan 30 needs motor

A somewhat rough Tartan 30, needing new interior, rigging, deck, bulkhead, chainplate and minor hull repair just sold down here for $5600. It had a 1991, but 10 hour Yanmar 2GM installed. Yanmar was good. I bid $4000. Everyone should do at least 1 project boat top to bottom. I am now reluctant after a couple of them. It''s just the time thing. Plus, down here, it''s $11/ft/month plus metered water in the boat yard.
