S2 8.0

Heard these were pretty slow on the start and sloggish down wind, which doesn't leave alot, but has anyone any personal experience with the boat? I'm looking for a weekend to 2 week cruiser, sailing in the NC coastal area. All opinions welcome.

I don't necessarily agree with that assesment. I think overall they sail well and I have an awful lot of fun in mine, but I don't like mine in light air. I'm not sure if it is me or the boat that is the real issue there. I have never done any cruising, only day sailing so I may not be the best person to ask about that. Should be fine for weekending, but for a 2 week cruise??? It could be done for sure, but with an 8ft beam its a little tight for some folks.

I agree. I've had my s2 8.0 for a couple of years. After owning several other boats, I couldn't be happier with the quality, performance, and comfort of it.
