Hiring Delivery Captain North Carolina to VA

Hi Everybody,

I am in the middle of purchasing a boat that is currently in Oriental, NC. I will be keeping in in Colonial Beach, VA. SO I am trying to figure out how to get it there. I want to avoid as much as possible putting it on a trailer and going over the road for a number of reasons......the most important reason being that this is a great opportunity for an adventure ad learning experience.

That said I want to be smart and safe about it. I have a little bit of sailing experience with the emphasis on little. I am trying to find information/recommendations for a delivery captain to help me sail the boat from Oriental , NC to Colonial Beach, VA. The dates are somewhat flexible but it would be around the last week in August (say the 28th or 29th) I am guessing the trip will be 4-5 days. Its a smaller boat 24' on deck with 21' waterline and 18 hp diesel engine.
It is important to me that I be present on the trip as I think it would be a great learning experience (I understand that if you take the intracoastal waterway it is mostly motoring but there is lots to learn) and great adventure as well.

Please if you have any information/recommendations/advice.......

Yes, it will be mostly motoring on the ICW. And unless you want to really push it, I'd plan for a week. Longer if you want to sail much, when possible. If you're main interest is in getting there though, I'd motor, at least to the Chessie.

If you have someone who can go with you as crew, or even by yourself, I'd be happy to buddy boat with you up to Colonial Beach. That way you have someone around if you need help, but are still doing it yourself. If you're interested, pm me.
