O''Day 322

Hi! I''m considering buying my first big boat... it is a 1987 O''Day 322. Does anyone have any comments on this boat, construction, cruising ability, safety?

My husband and I will be cruising with our 9 year old child, so a comfortable interior is important and we liked the interior on this O''Day.

Mostly we will be cruising around New England for weekends and vacations....

I grew up sailing small boats and I''ve sailed a few times with my brother who lives aboard a 50 footer. He will be flying up this spring to take my husband and I on a week long sail to get use to the boat....

I''d love comments on the boat or our plans...

Hi Bailey

I have a 1988 O''Day 322 and I really enjoy here. I also cruise the New England area. I''ve spent one weekend with a very active 5 year old on board along with two teenagers and two adults. While a little cramped with all of us there was enough room. I enjoy the winged keel sailing - although some will tell if you get in stuck in sand it''s just liked a Danforth.... I haven''t managed to do that yet at least! Maintenance is easy and access is good for the most part. The O''Day list here is very active and a great group!

I just bought and Oday 322 here in Canada and it was just the boat that we were looking for. I think we looked at a dozen other boats at the same price range and the 322 just came across as the nicest with the most to offer. The winged keel actually was a god send as we hit a shole on one of our first trips and was able to quickly power us off with little effort.
