Ranger 23

What are your thoughts? I've heard good things about its sailing performance. Arvel Gentry seems to like his. Any problem areas to be concerned about?

This is one of my favorite boats of that size and era. They were all around good sailors and had reasonable accomodations for their size. They were simple boats, reasonably well constucted. Of course they are typically more than 30 years old and so may have any and all of the old boat issues. Particular concerns might include mast step and supporting structure, deck coring, keel bolts and the rudder and rudder post, plus the usual worn out or outdated sails, outboard, instruments, standing and running rigging, and deck hardware.

The original Dove was an early Lapworth 24 a model which became the Cal 24. He finished the circumnavigation on a Luders 33.

The luders 33 is still sailing, and was for sale recently.

Don't quote me but I believe there are two 23' version. Tenuki has one version, the other is a 1/4 ton IOR design. A neighbor had one when growing up nice design and reasonably fast.
