How to find used outboards - Canada

Hi All,

Well, I managed to find my sail boat through some ideas I found here, so I figured I may as well ask about a motor. Any weird/creative ways of tracking down an outboard? Before everyone and his brother starts telling me what they have for sale, keep in mind that:

1) I am in Canada, Montreal
2) I am currently flat broke. Just bought a sailboat, paid for the kids ski lessons & passes for the winter, etc.

Looking to buy one for the spring, but no harm in looking around now.

Paul

Put the word out to family / friends to keep an eye out for one - many people looking will find more than you will on your own.

Sailormann will become famous soon enough
Try calling the brokers - Boulet Lemellin is one I think. They frequently build up an inventory when they take trade-ins....,

Look under "Classifieds", then under "Motors". It's mostly Ontario/Quebec listings.

try also www.kijiji.ca I have seen some listed there. Expect $500 for an old outboard that works up to $2000 for a one year old model with electric start and alternator.

Ski lessons. Hmmmm ... you think you are broke now - wait til they develop a taste for ski racing ......
