I have a Union 36 from 1977. I would buy another one, as long as it did not have the teak decks, or had teak decks that are glued (not screwed down). Don't touch screwed-down decks.
I think you could get a decent one for $50,000.
Inspect the tanks very carefully indeed though. Take the inspection hatch off the fresh water tank and make sure that the stainless tank was welded with the correct (chrome-rich) welding rods. If it hasn't, the welds will look rusty, and so walk away.
I think that $50,000 is solid money, and will buy a lot of boat, particularly if it's a little older.
