Kiwi 42, buying one...

Friend of family wants to buy a Kiwi 42. Its a nice boat for racing, but i heard it requires a crew of at least 2 to get it out of the marina etc... Any of you have any experience with such a boat? Its a racing boat, so luxury, comfort are out of discussion Thanks,
D.

Sailormann will become famous soon enough
Pretty well every 42 foot boat needs 2 people to get it out of the marina. If it's rigged to race seriously, 2 people are not going to be able to sail it competitively. Think 6/8/10....

unless there is something I am missing, a 42 can be single handed in and out of the marina....I do my 38 (with no bow thruster) just take it easy and maybe back and fro once more if in a tight space. I have spring lined/walked her off a pier or piling in very tight spots.

but should be able to do it
