Liberty 28, any info?

Through my constant boat search I often come accross the Liberty 28. The boat is close to what I'm looking for, not to metion cheap. I want something small and seaworthy enough to make some long offshore passages. However I can't find any info on the manufacturer, reviews or any other helpful info. Does anyone have any experience or info on these boats? Thanks Brandon

Just a comment on a "cheap" boat. We bought a very low priced Baba 30 for $48,000, put $27,000 into it, and later sold it for $55,000. The cost of refitting a boat can be extraordinary as you well know. Anyways, good luck to you.

Brandon, I looked at this boat about a month ago. They were built by the Liberty boat works in Riviera Fl. The company is still in business but they only make powerboats now. She seems to be a very well built blue water cruiser. I was not happy with the engine [raw water cooled] and she was a little small for my present needs, other that that a nice boat. Tom

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. This isn't the exact boat I was looking at, there is one with a little better layout in the Bahamas.

I'd prefer a fresh water cooled boat also. It would be pretty hard to fit a outboard on that stern I imagine, and with the heavy displacement, I'm not sure how that would work. I'll keep an eye on this one.

I've been set on a small Pacific Seacraft for awhile now or a steel boat. I keep putting off buying due to the housing market, but I could easily afford something as cheap as that Liberty without selling my condo. Thanks

And to do so would be an aesthetic crime anyway....
