Gulfstar 60' 1982

Does anyone have info on the MK I version (center cockpit)?

Are they good boats for ocean crossing?

I had no clue Gulfstar made a 60 footer.

I've seen a few of the 40-50 footers, and they seem superficially OK, but I have a faint recollections about issues with build quality. They could be the type of boat that is big and LOOKS capable, but is rarely owned by those who cross oceans.

I've always thought of Gulfstars as great liveaboards, but not the best bluewater boats. I'm not sure where I got this impression (or perhaps predjudice?).

That's what I was getting at: just a vague feeling of unease. Maybe it's due to the fact that I've never seen one moving...just tied to a dock. Are they shallow draft, like Whitby 42s, a nice boat prone to making a bit too much lee?
