How are the Watkins MkII as coastal boats? Any comments on problems, stability, sailing ability, etc. would be appreciated.

Its Solid little boat. Kind of a poor mans Island Packet. Can''t really point that high (due to keel and wide shape 10 foot beam, just like an Island Packet). But can do well on a run. Modified full keel/scheel keel design. Rigging is very solid and oversized for this size boat. The most room I have ever seen on a 27'' Sailboat.

I had one and I was happy for what it was. Try and get one with the bigger 2QM15 (15hp) engine. I''ll tell you I was in a few good blows and just pounded thru the waves and motored on home. I never felt uncomfortable with my girlfriend and kids on the boat even with the big seas and whether the boat would hold up. I loved room the solid toe rail and teak pulpit anchor roller.

It won''t win any races, but its comfortable.
