Recommend a Surveyor

I think it would be useful to have a thread like this to help those in the boat-buying process who are looking for an honest and reliable surveyor who they can hire without too much worry.
I suppose the danger is for posters to recommend friends and relatives, but that's the risk of the internet and a forum where everyone can say anything without providing evidence of good faith.
I've bought a sailing dinghy instead of the "big boat" for the time being, but in a couple of years of coastal messing about and maybe chartering, I'll be back in the market and looking for a nice multihull to cruise the Channel Islands of California.
At any rate, what are your thoughts about this?

When the broker gave me list of "all" the surveyors in the area... but not ALL were on it; that was all the advice on who to hire I needed! The broker actually had the nerve to tell me I couldn't hire who I wanted too! Word of mouth on the docks is probably the best way to deal with this issue. About the same process as hiring an attorney... Anyways, any buyer in Hawaii needs a recommendation feel free to ask.
