Very Cheap Flicka

Check out this $3000 Flicka from Craigslist: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/533673295.html

I wonder what it means to have the "cockpit cut out and decked over".

It means they butchered the boat... they cut the cockpit out of the boat, and then decked over where the cockpit would have been. This gives you more interior room in the boat, at the expense of losing all cockpit space.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

One other problem with the boat. They changed it from a sloop rig to a semi-balanced lugsail rig, and the mast looks shorter than the typical Flicka mast. On a standard Flicka, the mast is longer than the boat, on this butchered one, I don't think the mast is even as long as the boat is.

See the difference:

Standard Flicka with sloop rig

Butchered Flicka with Lugsail rig

It means you shouldn't buy it.
