I don't know about the diesel mechanic but I do know a surveyor from Long Island that goes to Brooklyn of anywhere in the Tri-State Area. His name is Greg Michaels. He surveyed two sailboats for me and a number of others for a close friend of mine. I liked him a lot as he was very thorough and answered any question I had and even showed me what to look for to weed out potential boats in the future before paying for surveys.
