The flying tiger 10 meter project was talked about alot over on SA. You did read the headline correct, a New 33 ft. sailboat with Sails for $58,700.

Have a look here:

What is it with Flying Tiger 10s and Cayenne 41s? I see them going at suspiciously low prices...even for race boats, which can be "class-orphaned", if that term makes sense.

Note that the price does not include an engine, marine head, delivery, or a few other 'important' things.

If you follow the threads at Sailing Anarchy, the final, at your door price is significantly higher. It's still cheap, but a lot more than $60K.

It does come with sails and the engine is a 9 hp outboard that sits in a well.

SAIL magazine 'reviewed' it this month - by 'review' I mean published the companies write up.
There were a couple in it's size range. Nothing close to it price wise although the ESSE 850 (28ft) at 69k gives it a run for it's money.
I'd rather spend 65-70k final delivered est. on a boat I could at least take out for a weekend. Racing is a very small part of my sailing, generally the impromptu 'two boats on the same course' type race. I enjoy them until I finish passing the lead mine

The FT10 had a big following on SA from the beginning. Can't recall how many hulls were sold before the boat was even in production but it was quite a few. And yes, it is a sport boat in all its glory.

And for those who haven't kept up with the cruising 36 footer Bob Perry is now designing (actually just about finished) on SA, check it out in Cruising Anarchy. There's already a building in line for it looking for orders.

The Cayenne 41 is a bit of an odd duck, but one that I have always liked. Like its close cousin, the Diva 39 these were narrow beam, fractional rigged, high build quality, mid-1980's era Scandinavian performance cruisers. They have always looked like fast and easy to handle boats but because of their big cockpits and narrow beam, they have smallish interiors for their length. I've chased a Cayenne upwind on a gusty day in a steep chop and was quite favorably impressed. I think the price is he;d down becase of the narrow beam and minimal accomodations, and, like my boat, its sort of a racer and sort a cruiser but not exactly either what a dedicated racer thinks of as a raceboat or a dedicated cruiser thinks of as a cruiser.
