FREE 30' Footer in the NJ/NY Area

Free 30' in NJ.....really wish I could get it but I have no way of transporting it and still dont know much about sailboats so it wouldnt be the best project for me. But maybe its perfect for someone on the forum. I think it has an onboard that needs some work here is a link to the ad

newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/boa/645041161.html]**FREE 30' SAIL BOAT** YOU MUST MOVE IT!!!

Free 30 foot fixed keel sail boat-comes with aluminum mast-no sails. I was told it does have an engine but it's in need of repair. The windows are broken. This is a project boat. I will not part it out, meaning I will not sell or give away the mast or any other part-DONT ASK! You must take the entire boat! The boat is located in Carteret, NJ just off exit 12 NJ Turnpike. It must be moved or viewed during business hours 8-4:30 M-F ONLY. I know nothing more about the boat, no title or paperwork-comes with a hand written bill of sale. Call Mark at 973-985-1831. No emails-you must call if your interested.

I'd steer away from this... NO TITLE OR PAPERWORK... that means that you may not legally own the boat, even if you bother to move it and fix it up...the legal owner may be able to take the boat away from you.

The guy in the ad wants some one to cart the boat away, instead of paying for a hauler to take it away. No sails... broken engine... broken ports... BTW, without a title or other legal paperwork, it could be argued that you stole the boat.

Looked at the ad on craigslist...and the boat looks like it's already been stripped... Look at the fourth photo especially... no wheel, no binnacle compass, instrument holes in the bulkhead, looks like the winches are missing, etc.

The interior is probably trashed, since the deadlights are broken and there don't appear to be any dropboards in the companionway.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Carteret, New Jersey?

The thing probably came in on the bulbous bow of an Amoco tanker. As they discharged home heating oil somebody looked over the bow and found a sailboat! (g)

Ever noticed that the boat's in what looks like a salvage yard? Possession is definitely questionable since if it was salvaged, they could get a salvage title. So I suppose someone "dropped it off" and ran away.
