I am a new boat owner! Finally!
First, the Caliber 38 survey was a total bust! I was so upset to say the least. Rudder bushing bad, bent prop shaft and total Electrical panel re-do just to name a few. Hard lesson learned here.
So, plan B went into action and I stole a 2006 36' boat. Best of all she was in the Miami area where I will be doing a semi-liveaboard. I work in Miami and live in NJ. Her new home is in the Rickenbacker Marina so drop by and say Hi!
I have to go through the re-naming ceromony this week. She will be re-named Rhapsody in Blue. I hope the God's will be please with some Mt Gay Rum Reserve I bought just for the occasion.
She is so new, I have to outfit her with a lot of the basic stuff. My credit cards will never be the same. The previous owners just day-sailed her from what I can tell and not that often either. The engine had only 50 hours on it. Not even broken in yet. I am already experiencing working on it. Had to tighten the belts and stuffing box already. A new autopilot is going in this week, Raymarine SG-1 linear drive. Since I will be single handling, I will designate her first mate!
So now, let the fun begin! If my memory serves me right, for every hour of sailing requires 5 hours of working on her.

I started out re-reading this thread with the intent of recommending something in the Labrador breed to handle the loving end of things and, like everyone else, am not exactly sure what you're mounting that autopilot on. If it by chance is a Labrador please forward me make, model, and effectiveness as I've one prone to wandering. (g)

Sounds more like a snowmobile!

Congratulations on your purchase - especially on how new she is - a 2006 ! WOW! I'll bet in 6 months you'll be really glad you got this one.
Well Done!
