1978 Cartwright 36
I have very little direct knowledge of these boats. Most of these boats were owner finished and vary quite extensively in fit, finish and layout. I do have a good friend who bought one that was partially completed, and finished the boat himself. He and his family sailed the boat to Europe and spent time cruising there before sailing back home. He seemed pleased with the boat in many ways but found her slow and ungainly for normal coastal use and so sold her.
When you talk about owner built boats you never know what you''ll find so you will need an extremely competant surveyor and will want the surveyor to pay particular attention to the electrical, propane, rigging and plumbing systems, let alone how the bulkheads etc are attached to the hull. I have been aboard beautifully finished owner built boats where the wiring and propane systems were a nightmare.
Good luck,
Jeff
