We have a 33 O/I, live on it full time, and must say that when I did a complete refit in the winter of 2004/2005, I was impressed with all the basics about the boat structural make up and other items. It was that winter that some one provide me with Charlie's phone number so I gave him a call. My question to him was when he built my boat, what didn't he put in it which if he had to do it over, his reply to me was more ballast. Our boat was commissioned at 14,600 lbs, so we increased the weight to 20,000 lbs fully fitted, with no extra lead just extras, and I must say she sails very well in all conditons except very light winds, she is my tank for sure and so many people when they see her coming give her way. I've been knock over with her and it was that day that my trust increased ten fold, as she just seemed to brush it off and conitued without loosing her stride.

I've just bought a 41' Out Island ketch - my first sailboat, having only started sailing last year - and absolutely love her. She needs a little tLC but is generally extrememly solid, seaworthy and built like a brick outhouse.
