My wife and I just put in a purchase offer for a 1986 30' Catalina, I have read the posts here and really appreciate all the advice that these forums provide. Once we settle on the price, I am going to have an engine mechanic look over the M25 and then if it's ok, go ahead with the survey.

My buddy sails a the same boat, it does him good - I think he paid 16 for his two years ago, boat needed some work, and had blisters - but was useable as was.

Hope it turns out for you. I have an 83 with the diesel and have had no problems to date (knock on wood). I bought mine three years ago and the survey only listed a leak in one of the windows (not a surprise on the 80s C 30). Good luck.
