Scampi 30

Has any here heard of a Scampi 30? Any opinions?

They seem to be fairly common here on LIS. A decent Beer can racer. There is usually always one listed in the sailing rag for around 10k.

Ok, thanks. There is one here in RI I am going to look at tomorrow. Its a 1977 with a bunch of sails, the interior needs work. They are asking $15,900 which seems pricey for a 31 year old boat.

Are these boats common enough that parts, sails, cushions and such can be had without too much aggravation?

Parts

All the replacement parts on 31 year old and newer boats are typically from third parties.

You want cushions - you get them custom built. I have never heard of anyone ordering from a factory
Sails - local loft - they have the dimensions, etc
Rig - local rigging shop

The list goes on.

The big question for parts has usually been the engine. That is dependent on the engine make/model not the manufacture of boat. An Atomic 4 for instance has lots of ready supplies of parts despite being old. Find out the ake and model of the engine to answer your question.

Nearly everything else can be found at a chandlery/loft/rigging shop/etc...

And for what its worth - there is a Scampi 30 in our area and the owner is very happy with it.

Thanks everyone! I'm checking her out today at 4:00. I took a quick look yesterday. Seemed to be some minor stress fractures around the windows, and the wooden blocks deck cleats were mounted on had some thin cracks. I don't think either is a big deal. The deck was not gleaming white but that's to be expected on a 31 yr old boat I guess.

I'll see the inside today.
