29' seafarer questions

I found a project boat. The rigging and mast is missing but she is in the water. I have made arrangements to take a closer look. The hull is in great shape and I wont lie, the price is very right. The owner is practically giving her away. I would like someone to tell me about costs associated with the mast and rigging. Perhaps a good orderly direction as to where to look for a replacement. Let me say that I appreciate any response.

Unfortunately, unless you find a second project boat or can salvage the rig off a similar size boat, the cost of a new mast, boom and standing rigging is probably going to be more than the boat is worth.

Does the mast, boom and standing rig have to be from a seafarer? What length fluxuation can I have, plus or minus 1 foot or it has to be a 28.7 foot boat riggins?

It doesn't have to be from a seafarer 29, but it would be much simpler it it was. The shrouds and stays are often very different for different boats, and the mast off of another boat may need some serious modification to fit/work properly on this boat. Also, the sails, if any, won't fit unless the mast and boom are very close in specifications to the originals.

Finally, I would seriously question how great a shape the hull is in, if the mast and rigging went missing. You should probably be asking how that happened.

Most bargain boats rarely are. They often will cost far more to restore/repair than buying the same boat in ready to sail shape.
