O''''day 322

We are looking at a 1987 O''day 322 for a first boat...anyone out there have any thoughts or experience with this boat? We plan on sailing on an inland lake for a year or so...then taking it to the coast of NC.

O''''day 322

I''ve owned my 1988 for three years now. Sailed her from Newport RI to Miami last year - both inside/outside via ICW. Great boat for coastal cruising - love the winged keel and shoal draft. The boat has very few weaknesses. The main drawback I found was deploying the anchor undernearth the bow pulpit. Other than that she sailed GREAT!

O''''day 322

Owned one on Lake Ontario for 6 seasons. Just sold her to move up to a larger boat. Very nice boat overall. Make sure you get a picky surveyor Oday decks can become soggy, ours was fine for a 15 yr old boat. With this said I had a deck survey every two years and rebedded as needed. Wing Keel was fine from a sailing pt of view, had some concerns in the beggining but loved it over the years. Careful if you ground it, no rocking to free up because it is so wide at the base, you go out the same way as you went in.

Only complaint I had with the boat was the rig was not balanced well in my opinion. It sailed BEST double reefed with the 140 and main she wanted to go to windward. I just learned to live with that. Acoomodations were great and very modern for an 87''. Good uck GO FOR IT!!!!
