Cost of transporting a boat between lakes

I understand that this could be a regional question, but since there are so many lakes around Dallas, we have a wide range of places to see boats. There are only a few lakes we actually would like to keep one. Is there any formula or standard for figuring the cost of moving a boat so I can keep that in mind. There is even a boat north of Houston I would be willing to look at if I had a good idea how much it would cost to move.

Is there such a thing as trailer rentals?

The size we are looking for is around 27'

Thanks
Patton

you can trailer many "swing keel" boats around 25 to 27ft.

the problem you're going to run into is that once you splash it, you're going to spend 2-4 hours preparing to sail. Then another 2-4 hours puttiing it back on the trailer (ok, not a mac26x, but we're not going to touch that)

about Dallas lakes.... all are Corps built. Lewisville, Joe Pool and Hubbard are great for boaters but VERY crowded with go-fast boats and fisherman from Feb to Nov.
Eagle Mountain has a pretty good stable of sailboats, not many over that 27ft thing however.
Ther other lil tidbit is they are VERY good fishing lakes too, meaning lots of structure underwater... (stumps, rocks, houses... yea, houses)

I'd venture a little farther North, to Lake Texoma. Its 75 miles from dallas, but it a great sailing lake..89,000 acres, up to 75 ft deep. Lots to see and do. Contact either Cruisingdad or myself for more info.

As far as "hauling", look at anywhere from 2.50 to 5.00 a mile. Or on a 25 to 27ft boat, a 3/4 ton towing vehicle, but I wouldn't tow or haul one that size.

If we move it, we plan to move it once! We are in North Plano, almost to Frisco so we are limiting lakes we will keep a boat to Lewisville, Ray Hubbard or Texoma. Lavon also, but we are worried about its water levels since it was to poster boy lake two summers ago.

We have exchanged emails with sellers in Joe Pool, Grapevine and one down in Clear Lake. The problem with all of those is I need to figure the cost of moving in to the total. If I get one that is in the water at one of the other lakes to Texoma for 2.50 a mile, that might be affordable. What's the best way to find someone to help move one?

We are driving up to Texoma to check out bulletin boards at the Marinas today to see if we can find what we are looking for.

We found one at Texoma, so we are not having to transport it across land. We are probably moving marinas though
