Sabre 30 Mark III

Good morning!

My wife and I are looking at a 1986 Sabre 30 Mark III. We viewed her last Friday, and the boat seems to be in very good shape. Looks like the current owner has maintained her very well.

We are looking for other Mark III owners' opinions on their boats...and any info gleaned from your experiences, work on, sailing, etc. of this vessel.

We have read quite a bit about this boat (seen the manual, construction details, etc.), so we're really looking for experiences and other, non-easily obtained info those knowledgeable folk on Sailnet might have.

Thanks!

Sorry if I'm late on the reply.
I have a 1987 30 that I bought new in 1987. I sail in the Great Lakes, so I am about a 1/2 year sailor in fresh water, of course. I heartily recommend the boat. It has been very good to me. Extremely high quality workmanship and quality throughout. Good solid sailor, but not a racer, unless a lot of attention was paid to sails and trim. Comfortable and attractive interior with 6' headroom. Can easily be sailed singlehanded, but well appointed for two couples. Westerbeke 18 has had a few problems (especially water pumps) over the years but has always been reliable. If the boat has been well maintained, you could not do better for the vintage.
