New & looking

Hi all!

I've read this forum off and on for better part of a year as we look for a boat. I have to say I'm glad you're here and now I'm here!
My wife and I are new to sailing and looking for a trailer sailor that is towable by a Ford Ranger. We'd like to be able to spend the night on it. It would be basically just us and two small dogs on Arkansas lakes of 15,000 to 50,000 acres.
We've been told of a boat in our area that we're trying to schedule a look at it. But I've found little information on the model, the Hunter 20. Our hearts aren't necessarily set on this model. It just came to our attention and we thought it worth the time to look.
The problem is, I know little of that model. I posted on the Hunter forum and nothing has turned up there on the model. There are a few owner reviews of the boat but they are limited in scope and directed more to their individual boat. I figured there might be a dispassionate review or information on Hunters from the years the model was made but I haven't stumbled upon it.
My information the boat in our area is sketchy and second hand. It was made in either '83 or '84. It was pulled and has new bottom paint, main, 100% jib, 7.5 hp outboard and apparently a trailer. The owner is apparently quite knowledgeable of boats and their care. It's in his hands after he had loaned it out to his brother for awhile.
Thanks in advance.

Mike

Welcome Mike,
Quote:
The Hunter 20 Cruiser is a beautiful category C mini cruiser which can be easily trailed and launched. Her twin keels make her versatile for all occasions when stability and shallow draught are required. She is also available with a Yanmar 9hp inboard diesel option. The Hunter 20 Cruiser is surprisingly spacious below decks and has a separte galley and a heads compartment. There is more than enough space to sleep four adults in a double v berth and 2 single saloon berths, all in an open plan layout wich gives a light and airy feel to her accommodation.
Found this description with 1 of the Hunter 20 for sale on yachtworld.com, could be an interesting boat for small lakes, but looks rather expensive.
Good luck.

a bit more

teshannon, thanks for the welcome!
Robby, thanks for the reference (and the welcome!), I hadn't seen that one. I think it's the UK model. I understand Hunter sells boats there.
The one in question, here, is in central Arkansas. The owner is a surveyor, I'm told. So, I suspect he knew what he was doing when he put the bottom paint on and has an honest appraisal (no pun intended ) of the boat. The asking price is a bit below NADA, but the incidentals are still unknown to me.
I'll be looking more and, I'll be here on the forum.

Mike
