Challenger 40

Looked at a 1976 Challenger 40 (Challenger Yachts) today; wondering what opinions anyone might have of them for bluewater cruising? Thanks

Hi Suzy...don't know this yacht so had a look on yachtworld.com and from what I've seen there it seems OK. As argued many times here before bluewater is a very widely deployed term, but as with any purchase, get a good survey done, and make sure the 'hardware' will take the strain of a prolonged sail.
Good luck.

Thanks Robby. Not wanting to get into my definition of "bluewater", mostly because I just tried a few times and without defining lots of terms, it's not easy. Hmmm. Let's say, would YOU (meaning whoever is considering the question) want to cross the Atlantic in it, November through June?

Anyway, I appreciate your effort and your reply!

Feedback on Challenger 40s

Great boat with some limitations. We have owned our (and Challenger 32 in the past) for three years ;and love her . What specific questions do you have ? Loren
