So it seems like a harsh rule, but is actually making sailnet a better place.
As it is, there is the occasional spam that shows up in the forums, but they seem to be dealt with fairly quickly, and you can't eliminate that without instituting a much more involved registration/verification process.

Thanks for the good explanation Ken.
I'll just add that SailorPatriot is not the first to make that suggestion. We hear it fairly regularly and while we understand the point that's being made, we're persuaded that the current approach is far preferable. We have to do a lot less "monitoring and response to complaints of abuses" this way, which is how we like it.
