grand soleil

Saw a very sharp boat at my yard recently. It was a Grand Soleil. This was a center cockpit variety, but I looked on the web and saw some nice aft cockpit versions. They are Italian, and look to be finished very well. Does anyone have opinions on this boat?

I too got wood a few years ago looking at these beautiful vessels. They have a web site grandsoleil.it which has some basic information such as specifications however no construction details are available. I suspect that they are probably fast, if not they sure look fast just floating in the water! Schwing!

Yes, they are fast, solidly built and rather luxurious (and expensive) in comparison to average mass-produced French or Germans.

I sailed an old GS36 so no experience with the new boats, but I see dozens of them crossing Adriatic from Italy to Croatia every summer. And they have a new 40 built for IMS and comparable to X or First.
