Thanks for your knowledgeable imput regarding Pearsons & Ericsons. I probably shouldn''t have included the Pearson 36 as it is the 385 and Ericson 38 I am more interested in. Thanks again for your help.

Roy, there is another choice you might consider: Pearson''s 36'' cutter. This has the same appearance as the 365, which was drawn as a ketch and one of a family of designs (323, 365, 424, 530), but they modified the 36 to be a much better sailing boat. Deeper & heavier keel, taller mast and with more sail area, but with the same functional layout belowdecks, including a stand-up separate shower stall. Properly upgraded, this would be a fine cruising boat and it will sell $20-30K cheaper than the 385, I''m guessing.

WOOSH,
Is this thirty-six cutter an external ballasted fin?

Dennis:

It is an extended fin but I believe the ballast is internal, just like the 365, 424, etc. But it is deeper and the boat much stiffer.

Jack,
Gud evenin'',
If it is the bolt-on type keel watch-out because Pearson, to cut costs skimped on the glass in the keel stub area for a while.
A guy I know had one and it was a nightmare.

Jack, thanks again. I will include the Pearson 36 on my list. Your advice is most helpful, I''v mostly dinked around and sailed with others so I''m sorta treading water, so to speak, and trying not to drown in the process. So many boats and so little time. Thanks, Roy
