I see these posts are a bit dated but wanted to let you know I just purchased a 2008 Beneteau. 40 and am really excited about the boat. I too needed time for the light wood interior to grow on me - just used to the darker cherry. Cannot say enough good things about the guys at Great Hudson Sailing Center. Jim Vallone and Larry Troyano really go out of their way for you. Looking forward to my first sail to Block!

Re: Happy Beneteau 40 owners?

Hi, we have had the boat for 4 seasons and I would never go back to the old design. It did take some time to get used to it, but the open interior, the amount of space, the light and the enormous cockpit just cannot be compared in any other boat that size. We have had parties at the dock with 10 in our cockpit seated and 8 below with a custom extension we had made for our table. We love to entertain on the boat and she is well suited for that. Sailing wise she is well suited for LI sound, she sails like a rocket in stiff winds but in light wind when other are barely moving we can do 6 knots. She has handled well in squalls and brought us home to port safely each time. We most often sail short handed and with the three electric winches we have never needed an extra hand. The 40 is a great boat and I am sure you will enjoy her as much as we have.

Enjoy your new boat and the upcoming season.
