New Boat help

I am planning to buy a boat in the next 2 years. The idea is to shop around and then decide. Our trip idea is to sail south, rum milk route then south and arrive at Chile.

So far we are a little confuse about a pilothouse or normal sailboat. And we are looking right now a Valiant 42 or Regina of Vindo 40.


We like the Valiant a lot but it capacities relate to water storage and disel make me doubt that she is the right boat.

I would love to hear any info you can send me and reviews on cruising boat.

Hi GAH My third sailboat is a pilot house sloop made from aluminun. I don't think I would ever go back if I had a choice. I have had the boat for 10 years now and and I'm 65. Being able to stand watches with auto-pilot and radar within arms reach along with a 360 degrees view while in normal gear, in a gimbled helm seat makes it more likely that I'm enjoying the trip!
