Door number 1....

Okay,

Imagine a bonehead looking at 3 boats for coastal cruising. They are all in the right price range for saidhead, and the just right below-deck config for the old lady and the kids. They are the right type for the generally coastal cruiser kind of thang, and tough as hell to protect me where my blatant ignorance will rear its ugly head.

The boats are:

-Gulfstar 41 CC (30 years old but nice)
-Irwin 43 CC (20 years old and really nice)
-Morgan N/M 454 Centerboard Cutter (25 years old and close to really nice)

Personally, I'm diggin' on the Morgan - hard. It's fast - and supa pimpin'. And, of course, my friend digs that. The Gulfstar, on the other hand, is a freakin' tank. But I've heard stories. And the Irwin is a pretty sweet deal - and a CC. So it's got some love too.

My friend'll be going from Texas to Mexico (as soon as the drug lords finish each other off) - or, if he really grows a pair - to Florida and down to the islands for cheap rum.

What would you do? What....would.....you....do? And why?

BTW - this is for a close friend. Not me. of course. Just a friend...that's not me.

The Morgan first

Then the Gulfstar (how well finished is it ?)

Maybe the Irwin (these boats were made to sell at a certain price-point)

Old shoe # what ever! NONE of the above. Maybe a First 40.7 or 44.7, or some other boat that will sail!

Oh wait, you did not ask for that opinion didn't you?!?!?!:R:R:R

Nah, forget about the Tupperware boats. Get a real boat.

Go for the Morgan.

Trading in the Smacktanic???

Sorry thats right its for a 'friend'

I would go for the Irwin, with the Morgan coming in second cause I'm into centre Cockpits and don't really do centreboards....

So umm when are we heading for the islands and the cheap rum??
I have never been too the Caribbean Smack.....I'll do the night watch if I can take the Aft Berth??
