Motiva 39

Looking at a 1982 Motiva 39 (not a motor sailer)as a long term voyaging cruiser. I have tried to contact the company for some information but have not received any response to date. Their web site does not give details of the older models, so I would be grateful for any information any one can give me about their performance etc.

Thanks for any help.

Motiva 39

Hi
I`m the son of Victor Enevoldsen
Who was the constructor of the first 5 Motiva boats, and the most populare was the Motiva 39, the one you are looking at, I guess
He started the firm together with Tony Dall back in 1969. and was in the firm until 1975.
My father is dead now but i still have all the bluprints of those sailingboats, and can give you any informations you need.

Regards

Capt. Peder Enevoldsen

Motiva are very sturdy well built steel boats with good liveaboard interiors.

I think they don't exist anymore. Some years back I have saw their stand on a boat show and they have a nice new design for an aluminum boat (if I can remember correctly) a boat that was very close in looks to the Nordship 40. Never saw the boat and I don't know if they had made any.

The Steel boats were heavy and needed a lot of wind to sail. If you are going to do a lot of voyage along the trade winds that should not be a problem. For coastal cruising you are going to motor most of the time.

Regards

Paulo
