East Coast Insurance

Hello all,

I've been looking for new jobs. One of my goals is that if I'm going to move I want to find some place that I can have a sail boat. I read that due to the hurricanes the past few years that insurance is hard to get on the East coast if your too far south. I've been looking at Virgina or Maryland area. Can anyone comment on their ability to get insurance and any restrictions you might have.

Thanks
Jason

Generally, unless you want to pay double, boat has to be north of Jacksonville June 1 to November 1, hurricane season.

Insurance in MD and VA, coastal or Chesapeake Bay, is relatively simple to obtain and especially CB, affordable.

Quotes from Nationwide, Allstate, Boat US and Progressive should cover it.

I have never had a problem obtaining insurance for MD, Chesapeake Bay, most of the years I have owned a boat I used Boat US. If its an older boat, be sure you know the coverage you're getting, for example Progressive.
