Krogen 38 with a centerboard problem

We are looking at a Krogen 38 but it has a centerboard issue. The woodwork around the base of the casing is showing signs of water damage and there are quite large whitish deposits. The boat is sailed in salt water.

Has anyone heard of problems in this area. We quite like the boat!
