Budget and Seaworthy Boats

Hello all,

Just looking for a good seaworthy boat under $7000.00 if possible. I live on the southern coast of texas and would be taking her out on the gulf of mexico which are generally 5 to 6 ft of waves. I have lived on the water all my life but never done the long tour sailing, which i would want to get into. Can someone help me or guide me into a good boat that wont sink me or my wallet?
