Need reco for steel sailboat surveyor San Diego

Hi, Ya''ll,
I''m bidding on a steel sailboat in San Diego and want names for steel sailboat surveyors with whom you have dealt and are pleased.
And for those who know such things, can a surveyor be able to positively say that a hull is sound? I know it''s easy to say a hull is bad if you can put a hammer through the hull, but would a good surveyor need x-rays or an ultrasound to give me peace of mind or to tell me which plates would need replacing?
