Downsizing
What is the smallest boat that can be sailed by a crew of one or two weighing not more than 300 pounds (for 2) that has all of the sail controls of a larger boat? The way I sail now no longer allows stepping the mast of the Lightning and leaving it for the season. But has changed to sailing off a beach (lake Michigan) for two to three weeks spread out over the summer. I still want to have it all, (three sails, lots of sail control, and a boat that doesn’t look like a plastic bath tub toy) without the size and need for three strong people to get it in the water. The club FJ looks like it meets the functional requirements but not the crew weight (together my wife and I tip the scales at about 300lbs). Any thoughts?
