which catalina 27 for racing?

I currently own a Catalina 22 but am looking to purchase an older 27. My emphasis will be on racing here on Georgia''s Lake Lanier. Is a tall rig or standard the better option? I know the tall carries more sail but they seem to also be dragging inboard props. Should I even consider a 25 year old Atomic 4? Do the different phrf ratings balance things out anyway and make the extra sail area a moot point and not worth dragging around the old inboard? HELP!

Buy a boat with an outboard. If it is just for racing don''t even consider the inboard. If you look around there are tall rigs with outboards available.

The inboard boat is much heavier and they sit a little low on the waterline in the rear of the boat. The boat was originally designed for outboard power.
