Morgans anyone?

My husband and I are looking at a 1982 41' Morgan. She seems to be in great condition. Is there anyone out there who has sailed or owned a Morgan and give us a thumbs up or down on this boat?

My wife and I have been fulltime liveaboard cruisers on our Morgan Out Islands since 1973.

'can't stay with them that long without being pleased...

We normally cruise seasonally from the Bahamas to Maine....

We repowered from our original Westerbeke with a Yanmar in 2000. Morgan OI 41's are spacious, comfortable, shallow draft, cruising "trucks" that give up some windward performance and traditional "classic" trunk cabin design. As a coastal cruiser they excell on the
East Coast & Bahamas for access to much gunkholing. All boats are compromises. We have given up racing performance and classic teak looks for comfort, low cost and lots of access to shoal water......

'take care and joy, Aythya crew

We sail a 1973 36' OI and have no regrets. Sure, the OI's are not fast boats and don't point well, but the pros far outway the cons. She offers great stability, has an extra stong hull, lot's of room and great at anchor. Most can be had at a very fair price and probably offer the best bang for your buck of most boats out there. You won't regret your purchase.

We live aboard our 33 O/I full time in St John's Newfoundland, we still work and plan a push off in the spring, she has all the room and comfort we have found we need, two of us and our cat. I will admit that I've spent more on her than I will ever recover but that does not bother me. She is a very forgivening boat even with my one knock down.

Tanks, truck, tug....

Love our Morgan O/I 30'. We owned a 41 Classic for 2 yrs and were impressed enough to search for an easier to handle 30'er. It won't win races...but it will get you there, safely and in comfort. The 3 1/2 draft is terrific for our rough coasts and inlets. We regurlarly do weeklong summer vactation w other couples. Its not the 41'er but it works!

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.
