buying a fellows and stewart 1946

anyone know these boats
wilmington Ca. boat yard
want to buy a 1946 44' auxiliary sloop with what the owner says is a 8'9" kull keel
gas engine grey marine
any thoughts on any of this would be appriciated
like why such a big keel
and about the brand

I am only familar with their military boats but with a background of building them , she must be pretty stout. I would sell the Grey Marine and install a diesel for safety and convenience sake. A draft of 8'9" is not unusual for an older full keel boat, especially one on the Pacific coast. let's see some pics.
