15' Demon

Be nice to the new guy.....he's pretty ignorant about these things!

Has anyone ever heard of Advance Sailboat Corps. and/or their 15' Demon model? If so anything in particular to know about?

While I'm here, how does a Tanager(?) 16 fare as a starter boat and any things to take note of? I've not seen either of these boats except on line so can't offer anything definite. Was wondering if they're worth a 3 hour drive to look at.

Re: 15' Demon

I am refurbishing a 1965 Demon. The rudder and tiller appear to have been (temporarily) misplaced.

Any source for replacements?

Thank you,

Re: 15' Demon

Hey, frank86... Welcome.

I'm pretty sure that Demons have long been out of production, or of any interest, for several decades, and with little initial concern for spare parts.
For those with some curiosity... Rough specifications for any DIY on these boats can be found here:
DEMON sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

I happen to have a certain affection for the designs of Uus van Essen...

My Best;

Re: 15' Demon

Howdy, I am buying a Demon 15 hull. I realize that parts availability will be next to impossible but I'm not afraid to fabricate my own so long as I can get close to the specs. At the moment I'm trying to figure out the overall length of the mast, from step to masthead. Does anyone have a clue? I found a sweet 16 diagram pdf from KC Sailing and it shows a mast height of 22 ft but that appears to be from the deck up and at least this Demon hull looks to step the mast down on the keel. My other idea would be to put a sweet sixteen rig on this, if that might work, obviously with adjustments on shrouds, etc. Any thoughts on all of this?
