small boat with a decent head?

I am assisting a buddy of mine in finding a decent 30' liveaboard boat in the 15-25k range. He will be working while living on this boat and would prefer not to have to use the marinas showers every morning. Very few boats of that price range were concerned about head design, as long as it worked most didn't complain.

I have found various endeavors with a decent head along with the pearson 323. I'm just looking for others he should take a look at. It will be used for coastal cruising, no serious passages. His original idea was to pick up a decent bristol 32' but is now willing to go with something not as stout for a little nicer interior.

Well, to toot my own boat horn...

I've a Newport 30 and could live aboard her just fine. He should be able to find one in pretty good shape for that price. Nice galley, head and V-berth. Beamy little coastal cruiser. I had a note from a guy that bought one and took her to the Northern Marianas. Don't think I'd try that but I do have my eyes set on the San Juan's and Mexico..

Here's a link to my review and the comments from that guy and others. Newport 30 Sailboat Review

Can't think of any 30 footers in that price range that would have a great shower, but have a look here for a candidate that might work for everything else:

My boat has a one piece fiberglass head which I like a lot because you're not spraying water directly onto wood bulkheads like on a lot of boats. The head sink is also outside the head compartment which is nice too because you can leave all your toiletries out on the vanity without having to worry about them getting wet. All that said, the downside to my boat's set up that you'll find on a lot of boats in the 30' and under range is that the shower drains directly into the bilge. I'm pretty obsessive about keeping my bilge dry and I think it would drive me nuts if I was showering every day on the boat. Luckily installing a shower sump with its own pump wouldn't be hard on my boat, but I don't know if the same is true for every boat.

Check out an S2 9.2C. Possibly the best head ever on a sub 40 ft boat.

Morgan OI 33 is roomy and you certainkly will find one in that $15-30K range depending condition. I may be biased, but I love mine. Head isn't huge, but tons of storage and sturdy enough to take you far.

Thank you for the prompt replies

Sailhagg I have always been a fan of Newport, especially the 28, but it seems most have the teak head instead of fiberglass. That could make it difficult in locating one.

4arch I completely forgot about the Lippincott due to it being more rare. I will make sure to pass it along to him.

bljones that is the first time I have looked at the 9.2c and I am very impressed with the head and dedicated tub for shower. He may enjoy the CC design, I personally have never been a big fan when it is only one or two people. I would rather have the open space.

Lightbulb

The Yamaha 30 had an athartship head. This is about the only way to get a useable shower on a boat that size.
It is also a fast well-built ocean capable design, as well.

ps: I wonder if I am the only one here wondering how a 30 footer ever came to be described as "small."

The O'Day 302 has a pretty decent head for a smaller boat. It is an aft head, right by the base of the companionway...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
