Tartan 34C a bluewater boat?

It seems in most places I read about the Tartan 34C that it is accepted as being quite a seaworthy and offshore capable boat. It does have a giant cockpit however and a shoal draft centerboard keel - though this might heave to and handle itself better then a fin.

Anyone have any information about people cruising long distances in these boats or opinions as to how they would hold up to cruising?

The one I'm considering is 40 years old and has some minor deck delamination...

supposedly one has completed a circumnavigation (according to tartanowners.org) and several have done the Bermuda race. I'm looking into getting one as well, so would be interested if somebody has actual offshore experience with that boat.
