Looking for thoughts on the Irwin 37 CC shoal draft, for singlehanded liveaboard.

excuse if this is a double - looks like previous post went aground.
great accomodations
watch out for deck and bowsprit problems.
Expensive to fix - in my case made boat not worth buying.
try boatus site for a review.

I bought my 37 Irwin last year. The previous owner did nothing but drink on it, so it needed a LOT of work. The bowsprit was cracked and the crack was 1 inch in height difference. I rough sanded it and filled it with epoxy and had no problems. I needed to paint the whole boat. No problem. I sanded it, primed it, and painted it with both two part and one part, and everyone thought a pro did it (he did). The interior needed a lot of work too, like rewiring, painting, etc. After two months she the previous owner didn''t recognize her. She is the biggers sailboat inmy Marina, so we use hr a lot...like a dodge Caravan in gradeschool! She sails well for a tubby (20,000 lbs) and is stable on the seas but she heals at 30 degrees to other boats 20, soif yu don''t like the thrill of healing....I love her. Lots of room, sails well for me, gets me where I want to go, slowly compared to others, but when I get there, I got an apartment!!

Wife and I have a 38'' cc and from what we are told is similar to the 37'' layout wise.
We purchased in March 02. Boat in good condition at time. One owner. Had to do some tweaking and a lot of learning and discovering. Getting some things added in this off season that we fell will be important to us when we move aboard this spring. Found things to be very accessable with the exception of the water tanks. Hope to work on that issue in the spring.
Sails pretty good and not concerned with speed. As mentioned gets you where you want to go and when you get there it''s a nice size for two.
As for singlehanded I guess it all depends on how your cockpit is set up and the ease in which things operate.
